The company is a terrestrial fish farm, located in Nea Karvali, Kavala. It consists of 4 seafront fishponds, which are directly connected to the sea.

Operations in the region began in 1992. By 2001, the fish farm had expanded to its current state and in 2015 the company was acquired by the current owner.

The fish farm takes up 100,000 sq.m. of land and consists of 3 parallel, seafront fishponds and 1 adjacent fishpond, all of which are directly connected to the sea. They mount up to 40,000 sq. m. of water surface.

The fish farm also includes terrestrial land of approx. 50,000 sq. m., located north of the fishponds, which can be used for packing facilities, the installation of artificial fishponds or raceways, sanitisation tanks, as well as a hatchery for sea bass, sea bream or sturgeon.

The maximum production allowance is currently 120 tonnes annually, which can be increased to 240 tones, with the addition of liquid oxygen facilities.

In the past, the ponds have been used to successfully farm sea bass and sea bream. The fish farm can also be used to farm anadromous types of sturgeon to produce caviar.

This is a terrestrial fish farm in a unique location. The fishponds are directly connected to the sea, while freshwater also flows in them from a warm freshwater source and boreholes.

The connection of the fishponds to the sea in combination with the tide allows for the constant renewal and oxygenation of the waters, and allows farmed fish to partly feed free range, on top of provided high quality feed.

The water flowing in from the warm freshwater source remains at 23°C, which stabilises the temperature of the ponds and allows for feeding all year around. Borehole water also has a steady temperature of 19-21°C, which further helps with temperature stability.

The combination of sea and freshwater produces brackish waters, with measured salinity of 21.2%. It is also possible to get further freshwater supply from Nestos River (salinity 3%), which was utilised in the past.

Sea bass and sea bream thrive on these conditions. Populations grown here displayed vibrant colours and resembled wild caught fish, while exceeding their quality, due to their more controlled environment and stricter feeding standards.

These same conditions are also beneficial for the aquaculture of sturgeon, as the fish would benefit from the steady water temperatures year-round and the salinity of the brackish waters. It’s been estimated that the farm could produce 5-10 tonnes of caviar annually.

The waters are suitable for farming of several sturgeon species, such as Beluga (H. huso), European/Atlantic sturgeon (Acipenser sturio), Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii) and others.

The business is eligible for a subsidy scheme under the National Recovery and Resilience (NRR) plan. The scheme requires private capital for at least 20% of the total investment and covers the maximum remaining 80% through NRR funding and low-interest bank loans. Aquaculture is a qualifying sector offered 468.744.879 € in total.

We are seeking potential investors to provide capital, in exchange for up to 67% of company shares, to enrol in the scheme described above, for the aquaculture of sea bass and sea bream, as it is our area of expertise.

The investment will be used to acquire new equipment and materials for production, packing facilities, sanitisation tanks, a hatchery and solar panels.
