This NSF-funded California based Startup is a gamified educational software platform for children focused on increasing science knowledge, healthy eating practices, social skills and sustainability awareness. $1,000,000 invested into research and development of this platform. Their approach simultaneously promotes a love for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) knowledge and healthy habits. Using immersive storytelling, kid-friendly, and interactive content, the game encourages kids to learn content in low stakes ways, which provide support to groups of kids that have been discouraged from STEAM due to gender, economic background, or ethnicity. The science content delivery is integrated into the platform as kids observe, investigate and experiment, developing knowledge of physics, biology, and chemistry, while learning to cook new recipes. To aid accessibility, privacy, and interactivity, the app utilizes open data platforms, novel algorithms for data reduction and anonymization, and multimodal interfaces for input and output. Due to the pandemic and attendant cuts to education funding, the infrastructure to support learning at home was added in. The founder is looking for the right buyer that can take this platform and utilize it to create a successful business. The founder is willing to partner as well and stay on board as needed.
