Gold Export Via Brinks Nairobi
1. Collection of the Gold by Seller
Seller collects the full quantity of raw gold directly from the original seller. The material is sealed, documented and taken into Seller’s possession. Seller then transports the sealed gold directly to BRINKS Nairobi.
2. Secure Intake and Storage at BRINKS Nairobi
BRINKS receives the sealed raw gold from the the Seller, performs the official intake (weight check, seal verification, documentation) and places the gold under secure storage. BRINKS issues a Safe Keeping Receipt (SKR) covering the entire quantity in the name of the Seller.
5. BRINKS Confirmation Letter (Partial Security)
BRINKS additionally issues a Confirmation Letter covering only the portion of gold that corresponds to the value of the 10% upfront payment (typically approx. 18–22 kg, depending on the market price). This partial amount is held as security and can only be released upon written instruction from the Seller.
6. SGS / Bureau Veritas Quality Verification
SGS or Bureau Veritas conducts an independent inspection at the BRINKS vault (XRF testing, purity and weight confirmation, serial-number verification, photographic documentation) and issues an official inspection report.
7. Buyer’s 10% Upfront Payment
Upon receipt of the SKR, the Confirmation Letter, the refinery Assay Report and the SGS/BV report, the buyer transfers the agreed 10% upfront payment directly to the Seller. These funds cover all export- and process-related expenses, including government permits, documentation, refining and assay costs, BRINKS handling and storage, SGS/BV services and the fully insured BRINKS transport to Zurich, as well as Seller’s operational export costs.
8. Issuance of Export Permits and Documentation
Seller arranges all official export requirements, including the Export Permit, KRA/customs documentation, export registration and preparation of the Air Waybill (AWB).
9. BRINKS Export to Zurich
BRINKS conducts the secure transfer of the gold bars to the airport, completes airside security procedures and exports the gold fully insured to Zurich. The entire chain-of-custody is documented from Nairobi to Switzerland.
10. Handover in Zurich
In Zurich, the gold is handed over to the buyer directly at a BRINKS facility or, upon request, delivered to a Swiss refinery selected by the buyer (e.g., Valcambi, Metalor, Argor-Heraeus, PAMP). This completes the export process.
