Hi! I’m currently in the pre-production phase of my project From a Yardie to Yankee. From a Yardie to a Yankee, the motion picture, is based on the award-winning one-woman play of the same name.

From a Yardie to a Yankee, the play, portrays my epic struggles from the murderous streets of Kingston, Jamaica to the deadly consequences of Chicago’s drug wars. The one-woman show is full of colorful characters, powerful portrayals, obstacles overcome, and heartwarming humor. The show has racked up awards across the country. The show at the Hollywood Fringe Festival won the Innovative Women in Theatre Award. The production also won Best of Show in the TAG Studio Solo Festival.

Synopsis:
A young Jamaican country girl harnesses her rich imagination to escape the everyday struggles of childhood as she reaches for an impossible dream.

Why is this important:
The film is important to me, because it will allow my story to be told on a much larger scale than my one-woman show. Authenticity is so important in storytelling. This story, while based in Jamaica then the US, is a story that everyone can relate to. For years audience members have been saying that this should become a movie. Now, it’s finally time.

Supporters and backers of the idea have come through with initial seed money and have signed on as producers and other supporting roles. The time has come to begin the next phase of fundraising for production of the film. The funds raised will be used for all aspects of producing and distributing the film:
