a real-time RT-PCR based test used for qualitative detection of 2019-Novel Coronavirus in upper respiratory specimens such as nasal, mid-turbinate, nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs as well as lower respiratory specimens such as bronchoalveolar lavage, tracheal aspirates, and sputum.
Results are for the identification and presence of two specific gene sequences, ORF1ab and the N-gene, in SARS-CoV-2 and a specific human RNA sequence serving as a human extraction control to evaluate the quality of the specimen. Additionally, a non-infectious positive control is included to confirm functionality of the assay during the PCR process
